More Deadly Than Bullets: Focusing On Illness & Disease Exhibit at The National Civil War Museum

from The Happenings

Presented by Highmark, "More Deadly than Bullets: Illness and Disease in the Civil War" will examine how and why illness and disease killed more men in the field than bullets. In the Union camp, more than double the number of those killed or wounded in battle died of illness and disease. In the Confederate camp, this number was nearly double. "More Deadly than Bullets" will focus on answering key questions, such as: Why did so many soldiers become sick and die? What was done to address the problem? What types of illnesses and diseases were prevalent and how were they treated, if at all? (from pahappenings.com)
